Weston on January 27, 2023 –Ricoh has been ranked as one of the 100 most sustainable corporations in the world by the annual "Global 100" ranking published by Corporate Knights, a Toronto, Canada-based media and research firm focused on promoting a sustainable economy. This is the 19th annual Global 100 ranking, and this time 6,720 publicly traded companies with more than US$1 billion in revenues were evaluated.
The assessment analyzes key indicators including environmental, social and governance performance, percentage of investment in ESG activities, climate-related activities, among others. The ranking results were announced during the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Jake Yamashita, President and CEO of Ricoh, commented, "In 2020, we position ESG initiatives as financial targets. This ranking is a testament to Ricoh's continued and accelerated commitment to sustainability, such as incorporating ESG indicators into our executive results and ongoing climate change action activities by joining the renewable energy conversation with the Japanese government."
Ricoh's approach to sustainability is to pursue a sustainable society through a Three P's Balance: Prosperity (economic), People (society) and Planet (environment). To make this a reality, the company identified seven material issues in two areas, "Solving social problems through business" and "Robust management infrastructure," and established 17 ESG objectives to work on strategically and globally.
