Weston, FL, August 05, 2019 - Ricoh Company, Ltd., (Tokyo, Japan) announced that, beginning in fiscal year 2019, it will use 100% renewable energy in its A3 MFP assembly facilities. This move is part of a commitment by RE100, a collaborative initiative by which the world's most influential companies pledge that the energy used in their operations will be 100% renewable. All electricity used at locations where Ricoh assembles A3 MFPs, including refurbished equipment1, will be entirely sourced from renewable energy.

Since announcing its participation in RE100 in April 2017, the Ricoh Group has undertaken several energy-saving initiatives. It has also implemented its power generation facilities and transitioned to electricity sources of higher proportions of renewable energy. To date, it has switched to 100% renewable electricity at nine sales companies in Europe and for reuse/recycling processes in manufacturing in France. Other initiatives include the acquisition of the Nearly ZEB2 third-party rating at the Gifu branch of Ricoh Japan, a national sales company.

This latest initiative is based on purchase agreements for I-REC3 and J-Credit4 certificates derived from renewable energy, which coincide with the 37GWh of electricity Ricoh is purchasing this fiscal year for all the company's facilities for the assembly of A3 MFPs. Once the power purchases for this fiscal year are completed, the certificates will be redeemed, and the credits will be retired.

"It is important to mention that the sustainability guarantee of products is increasingly sought after by customers as socially responsible companies with sound environmental care policies have become a priority for users. In this context, Ricoh helps its customers to achieve an optimal experience both externally and internally with their employees through joint activities so that, together, we can develop more sustainable societies," explains Taboba Falero, General Manager of Ricoh South America DistributionCenter - Uruguay.

In addition, all Ricoh manufacturing and production sites worldwide are ISO 14001 certified for their environmental management system.
