Ricoh starts its initiative in June “Global SDGs Action Month"

Ricoh begins its "Global SDGs Action Month" in June to inspire and empower its more than 80,000 employees.


Tokyo, June 1, 2022 - Ricoh kicks off its "Global SDGs Action Month" in June to inspire and empower its more than 80,000 employees to become aware of the company's commitment and efforts to achieve its Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs).During this month there will be different activities related to the SDGs that you can participate in and contribute to the circular economy.This Group-wide initiative aims to create a strong sense of unity and further drive Ricoh's contribution to creating a better world for all.
This year marks the 18th anniversary since the launch of this program in 2006. Initially, the annual initiative took place around World Environment Day (June 5) and was called “Global Ricoh Eco Action”, to encourage employees to think and act for the benefit of the environment and take ecological. in unison, not only on ecological actions, such as measures against global warming to achieve a zero-carbon society, but also on solutions to a wide range of social problems.

Overview of “Ricoh Global SDGs Action 2023”

In this period that covers from June 1 to 30, 2023, the following actions will be carried out globally:

  • Raise awareness of how Ricoh's business is connected to the SDGs and our vision of “realization through work”: Videos presenting how Ricoh Group products and services contribute to solving social problems and our SDG-related activities in our factories and other areas of our organization will be available for employees to recognize how their own work is connected to the SDGs.
  • Actions for a sustainable society and planet: With the participation of Ricoh Group employees through Activity 1 (Know) and Activity 2 (Experience, Connect), we unite the action of the SDGs and business growth worldwide . The focus of the activities is the contribution to the circular economy and local communities. Activities include webinars and trash pickup.
  • Learn from the leaders!: Ricoh's top management declares that the Group addresses and solves social problems. By sharing the thoughts of leaders, we encourage and inspire employees to take action to solve social problems.

Additionally, specific activities will be carried out in each region:

  • Japan: Interactive seminars will be given with senior management and their dissemination of messages to accelerate the alignment between business and SDGs.
  • Europe: Partners across the region will focus on taking action in their local communities aligned with the Europe theme "Inclusion in the Workplace." Community impact activities will also be shared with collaborators.
  • North America: Ricoh's SDG and ESG story is showcased through thought leadership, customer successes and Ricoh's long history of cutting-edge sustainable innovation. Actively participate in celebrations of World Environment Day, Pride Month, June 16 (USA) and National Indigenous History Month (Canada) to showcase the SDGs in action across the region.
  • Asia/Pacific: A report of Ricoh New Zealand's vehicle fleet optimization from 109 to 66 vehicles will be published with the implementation of a "Remote First" service model from 2019 and the conversion of the fleet to hybrid models to achieve a 50% reduction in fuel use. A donation of winter pajamas to children in poverty will also be organized in collaboration with the New Zealand charity “Kindness Collective”. In addition, volunteers from Ricoh Thailand will organize to help with road repairs in Bangkok's Prawet district and coastal cleaning in Rayong province. Finally, a vertical gardening initiative of Ricoh Philippines warehouse staff will be promoted using used toner bottles.
